WATER UPDATE MEETING
JULY 23, 2016 10:00 AM
QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION

You are cordially invited by Marblehead Board of Public Affairs (Water Department), to attend an informational meeting at the JIPOA Clubhouse next to the cemetery on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 am.

Many of you have attended past meetings, and have had conversations with others about the feasibility of bringing public water to Johnson’s Island. This could be the final meeting to get the answers to your questions and be prepared with the facts so you may decide if you are for bringing public water on the island or not. Although there is no plan of an official election; all property owners will ultimately decide and be allowed to vote one time (via petition), as a resident / owner of the island, no matter if you own one lot or multiple lots, you get one vote via petition. One vote is defined as ownership of your property, example: Husband and wife = one vote, single person as owner= one vote, multiple owners on one property= one vote. The petition will be examined by the village of Marblehead for accuracy and to verify only property owners have signed, and then only once.

The process later after the meeting, will result in your signing a petition for water or if against it, you don’t sign, it is up to you. The petition will be available, at a table in the club house, to sign after the meeting if you like. If not, someone will try to contact you later. You are encouraged to sign the petition after the meeting, if possible if you are ready and have decided. Also, if you are interested in helping pass the petition in your neighborhood, please add your name and contact information to the list at the table where the petition is.

Please review the attached notes that show the engineering study, the cost estimates, and the notes from the Marblehead Water Dept known as “Board of Public Affairs”. This information is optional for you to review, but will help you greatly to be up to speed during the meeting. As a reminder, this meeting is the village of Marblehead addressing the residents / owners of property on Johnson’s Island and is not a result of any organization or association.
